Psalms 31:19-21 “Oh how exceedingly abundant is Your goodness (fairness, beauty, joy, prosperity) which You have laid up (stored up, treasured up, hid) for them that fear (revere) You; which You have wrought (done) for them that trust (seek refuge, flee for protection, confide or hope) in You before the sons of men!”
Here in these verses, mention is made of two kinds of people who will receive the great goodness of the LORD. Those who (1) fear / revere the LORD; and those who (2) trust / seek refuge / flee for protection / confide or hope, in the LORD. Revering and trusting the LORD, brings forth the blessing of that which have been stored up for those who make the LORD their Refuge, Protection and Hope. Such individuals are not ashamed to stand out for the LORD in the presence of man. They stand bold for Him. They are not moved, neither are they shaken by circumstances that glance at them through men, situations or scenarios which take place in the daily affairs of life. These are men and woman who can testify about what the LORD has done for them. They know that it is not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of the LORD working in and through them.
Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power (force) that work in us, (21) Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
We need to come to a point where we realise that we do not have the ability out of our flesh to address life, the situations of life and the creation in life (men) without the force of the Presence of the Holy Spirit moving us. For it is only when we move in His timing, in His direction, in His guidance, and in His ability, that we move in the exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, realm.
When we discover the necessity to continually move in the ability of the Holy Spirit and not in the ability of our flesh, we will experience how He will hide us in the secret of His Presence. Walking in the Spirit removes us from the touch of life. We may experience bad situations or circumstances; we may experience rejection or attacks from man, but those things do not touch us, it does not move us and it does not govern our lives, for we are hid in the covering of His Presence.
Psalms 31: 20 “You shall hide them in the secret (covering) of Your Presence from the pride of man: You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.”
Psalms 91:1 “He that sits down in the covering of the most High shall permanently stay under the shadow (defence, the hovering over) of the Almighty (Powerful).”
Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
Even when our firmness gets shaken by confusion, emptiness or something that feels unreal; and even when misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, or wickedness is facing us, we can rest assured that when we revere and trust the LORD, that His Spirit hovers, or moves over us, as our shadow and defence.
Therefore, because of experiencing what the LORD has done for me I can testify and declare with the Psalmist:
Psalms 31:21 “Blessed be the LORD: for He have shown me His distinguished favour in a strong city (distress, adversary, assault).”
No matter what you may be facing today, let the LORD Himself be your Hiding Place.
Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
